The 24" Marshal Smoker is similiar to the below listed link on the left hand side of this page, the 24" RD Special, in size and sheer bulk.  It just comes with a few less items, such as it comes with 1 thermometer, no installed sliding convection plate (you'd want to add a drop in one), and a standard charcoal grate versus the heavier duty reinforced charcoal grate which comes with the RD unit.  It also comes without a counter weight balance on the door.  If you plan on upgrading more than one item, you'd be better off pricewise to just move up to the RD version, but if needing to save a few dollars, this big son of a gun will give you a lot of capacity both in the main chamber and in the huge 24" by 24" firebox, and a few bucks back in the wallet.  Also, it does not come with a 2nd level cooking shelf as the 24" RD version now does.  You could certainly add a charcoal grate for the main chamber.
